| A. | Business or Service Field |
| A business name (such as "Johnson Motors") or business type (such as "Restaurants") can be entered in this field. A location must also be specified in the address field below. Boolean "OR" searches can be conducted by entering strings such as "Hotels OR Motels". Note that the "Business or service" field can be left blank if a complete address is specified in the "Address" field. | |
| B. | Address, City State, or Zip Field |
| This field must include either a city and state, a zip code, or a complete address. A location of this type must be specified before attempting a search. Following are some examples of acceptable Address field search strings. Boston, MA 85281 234 W 42nd Street, New York, NY Note that an address search can be conducted by entering a complete address in this field (such as "100 Newbury St, Boston, MA"), and leaving the "Business or service" field blank. The result of this type of search is a Metrobot street map. | |

| D. | Sign In Link |
| Anonymous users can view Metrobot maps and data, but certain functions which involve data input, such as creating events, polls, forum entries, chatting, or updating business listings, require that the user first be registered and signed in. Once signed in, a "Preferences" link replaces this link. | |
| E. | Find a User Link |
| Once a user has signed in, his or her location can be determined by employing this function. Note that users who wish to keep their location private can disable this feature in their Preferences settings. This function can not be used to find anonymous users who have not signed in. | |
| F. | Business Submittal Link |
| Click here to submit a new business for inclusion in the Metrobot database. | |
| G. | Advertising Link |
| Advertisements can be displayed in the Metrobot search result screens. Refer to the Map and Business Data help screens for examples. | |
